Evelyn Dixie Kurth, 72 of Arlington, died March 25, 2012 at the Reno County Hospice House. She was born June 7, 1939 in Anthony, KS, the daughter of Quentin “Tux” and Evelyn B. Shaw Carothers.
She was a graduate of St. Mary’s of the Plains High School, Dodge City, Adela Hale Business College, and Sidney’s Hairdressing College.
She had been a resident of Little River, Geneseo and Arlington. She had owned and operated the Little River Café and Dixie’s Beauty Shop.
On Aug. 18, 1957 she married Junior Stimatze in Boone, Ark. They later divorced. She is survived by three daughters: Melinda Belcher, Arlington, Lee Ann Carey, Hutchinson, Lorinda Harding, Newalla, OK, a son Walter Stimatze, Concordia, brother, Quentin Raymond Carothers, Sacramento, CA, two step-sisters; Karola Aikin and Jane Shulty, both of Wichita, 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Quentin Derek Stimatze, a brother Marion “Joe” Carothers and a step-mother, Teresa Carothers.
Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Arlington Senior Citizen’s Center in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory.
